The problem with that, is that the current James Anderson has only taken about 55(?) Test wickets... also, I know he's only played 17/18 Tests & hasn't made a single 50 yet, which mathematically precludes him from scoring 1000 Test runs.
Personally, I'll be genuinely surprised if Mr. Anderson (said in your best Hugo Weaving voice) ever earns the title 'allrounder'... frankly, I don't even regard him as a bowler, yet.

yeah, i was referring to the current one. I know at one stage he had the highest ODI or test average for players with more than ten games (he had 150 or such and had only got out once) so i took a crack at it, thinking that was a couple of years ago.
the only other one that springs to mind is Henry? Sutcliffe. I know he had a high average.
