Retiring wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has farewelled the WACA Ground in grand style, smashing a century in Australia's gutsy 63-run bonus-point victory over Sri Lanka on Friday night.
In reply to Australia's 236, Sri Lanka was on track for victory at 5-154 after 38 overs with Kumar Sangakkara (80) in complete control at the crease.
But spinner Brad Hogg (2-41) helped spark a collapse that saw Sri Lanka lose 5-14 to be all out for 173 in 45.3 overs, gifting Australia the bonus point and top spot on the Commonwealth Bank Series table.
Despite Australia's heroics with the ball, it was Gilchrist who stole the show.
