Default Jayaratne given Sri Lanka role

Jerome Jayaratne has been appointed as the head of coaching of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Jayaratne, a former Sri Lanka under-19 and under-23 international, joined SLC seven years ago as manager of coaching and latterly has been the director of coaching.

Jayaratne, who is a qualified coach with level three awards from Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board, was in charge of SLC's cricket academy, helping the emergence of the likes of spinner Ajantha Mendis.

"I relish this opportunity and I am definitely looking forward to the challenge," said Jayaratne.

"I am thankful to the current administration and members of the Interim Committee for having recognised one's efforts and entrusting me to deliver what is required for the future of SLC in the area of coaching."
