The big news going into this test would have to be that Kevin Pietersen is going to miss the rest of the series. It's a massive blow for England, looks like Bell is going to be given another chance

Needed to happen at some point, will probably do him good in the long run. Huge pressure on the rest of the batting lineup. Am going to back Ian Bell to do well at 5 or 6, is his last chance and I think he will do a decent job but as a unit Bopara, Collingwood and Bell is pretty worrying. especially Bopara, even greater pressure on him now

Such BS. Weird thing is... we can still win without him whereas Aus would struggle hugely without Ponting (captaincy notwithstanding)

Australia's batting is 2x England's so Im not sure I understand that. Pietersen will be missed though.

Twice as good is a stretch, tbh. Better, yes, but not to that extent.

Huge, especially if the replacement is Bell. Think England should go alright if they adopt an ABB principle though.

It is a big loss, and I don't have much confidence in Bell. What worries me is that the Aussies could run through us. Cook doesn't often go on to get big scores, and Bopara and Bell are not good enough IMO.

Vaughan would come in handy right about now, infact I said that when he retired.
