Default Australia wait for a ruling on iSixes

Cricket Australia (CA) said it would seek clarification on whether the new iSixes World Series in Singapore was officially sanctioned by the sport's governing body.

India's Anil Kumble and retired greats Shane Warne and Brian Lara are among the heavyweights to have signed up to the lucrative tournament that will feature teams from all nine Test-playing nations and offer $US1 million ($A1.06 million) to the winners.

Singapore will host the first leg of the six-a-side extravaganza on July 4-6 with further stops expected in Shanghai, Dubai, and one other yet-to-be announced country.

Warne's brother Jason, director of Zero Friction Cricket, said in a statement: "After the success of some of the ideas we introduced last year in Hong Kong, we are thrilled to be taking some of the world's very best players into Asia's most dynamic cities for four weekends of action."

In October last year CA sent a team of promising state players including Queenslander Michael Buchanan and Western Australia's Shawn Gillies to the Hong Kong Sixes competition, where Shane Warne played for an All Stars team.

CA may take a similar approach this year, although details are yet to be finalised and it's a volatile issue given the emergence in the past few months of official and rebel Twenty20 competitions in India.
