Default Clarke ready to take control

MICHAEL Clarke is in line to lead the Australian limited-overs team for the first time, but it is the West Indies captain, Chris Gayle, who feels he is learning the trade entering the fourth one-day international at Warner Park.

With wrist soreness reducing Ricky Ponting to light duties at training this week, Clarke is on standby to become Australia's 18th one-day international captain today.

The 27-year-old has already led Australia's Twenty20 side, becoming the country's youngest captain since Kim Hughes, and now seems set to take the next step in the grooming process for the Test post.
