Lalit Modi to submit reply today
Suspended IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi's lawyer expressed hope that the reply to the first show cause by the BCCI, which will be submitted Saturday, would satisfy the Board.
Modi had asked for a five-day extension to the original 15-day deadline as he wanted additional documents from the Board to prepare his defence.

His lawyer Mehmood Abdi said the reply to the first show cause served on April 26 would be submitted to the BCCI tomorrow in Mumbai.

"We will be submitting the reply to the BCCI in the second half tomorrow," Abdi told Cricinfo.

When asked if there is any particular time frame for the Board to make a final decision, Abdi said, "The Board president (Shashank Manohar) is an eminent lawyer, so it should not take him a long time, we hope, to make a decision.

"We hope our reply satisfies the Board and that it would revoke the show-cause and also re-instate Lalit Modi to all positions in the BCCI from which he was suspended," Abdi said.

Modi was suspended on April 26, soon after the conclusion of the IPL III final in Navi Mumbai by BCCI which sent him a show cause notice asking him to reply to a slew of charges relating to the conduct of the high-profile Twenty20 league.

Modi is accused of indulging in murky financial deals without the knowledge of the IPL Governing Council, bid-rigging and taking kickbacks from the TV rights and internet deals.

Modi's problems were compounded when he was slapped with a second show cause notice by the Board for allegedly trying to provoke English counties to revolt against their parent body, the ECB, and start a parallel Twenty20 league.

Yesterday, the Cricket Board had assured Modi that only documentary proofs provided on charges levelled against him would be used in the proceedings.

Modi had raised apprehensions about BCCI utilising evidence from "reliable sources" against him and asked the Board to remove oral communication from the proceedings.
