Gerard Depardieu At War With French Government Over Taxes

Watch The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey Online. This year Parks and Recreation's sulking beauty Aubrey Plaza made strides toward becoming a leading lady in film with her starring role in the quirky indie romance Safety Not Guaranteed. There she played into the cynical twenty-something niche she's been known for, before attempting to turn the clichéd character on its head when her snarky heroine falls for a guileless dreamer who believes he can time travel. The film won praise out of Sundance, and now that it's headed overseas, Plaza's doing more press and revealing details on an intriguing new project.

She was reluctant to share too many details, but confessed it would involve zombies and is "a really fucked-up movie." Plaza has close personal ties to this zombie comedy's screenwriter Jeff Baena. Best-known for co-writing the philosophical comedy I Heart Huckabees, Baena is Plaza's live-in boyfriend, and will make his directorial debut on Life After Beth. The film will also mark the first time Plaza and Reilly have worked together on screen.

Watch The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey Online. Actor Gerard Depardieu is furious with French President Francois Hollande, and he wants every last person in his native country to know why. Following the government’s decision to raise taxes to 75% on all income over $1.3 million, the longtime star moved to a small town in Belgium just over the border. His move prompted government officials to release statements calling him pathetic, but if you take it from Depardieu, the only thing pathetic is the idiotic new tax policy.

Writing in an open letter published in Le Journal du Dimanche, Depardieu says he’s happily paid more than $190 million in taxes over the last forty-five years and currently employs eighty-five people, but it’s positively ridiculous to pay seventy-five cents out of every dollar you make to the government. So, for the time being, he’ll continue living in Belgium, and if Hollande has a problem with that, Depardieu will turn in his French passport. France has always been known for the large amount of government services it offers and its relatively high tax rates, but under Socialist President Hollande, the country has pushed even further toward the left.

If the high taxes continue, it’s likely many more will follow too. There’s a difference between moving to a different country to avoid paying a little extra money in taxes and moving to a different country because newly elected politicians have dramatically increased taxes to penalize wealth. You can do all kinds of crazy things with a cell phone nowadays. The picture quality has gotten so good and connecting to computers and the Internet has gotten so easy that the possibilities are more limited by the imagination than the technology itself.

Watch Breaking Dawn Part 2 Online. Kurt Hugo Schneider’s newest video is a pretty good indication of that. Armed with three Sprint smart phones, an arsenal of classic holiday songs and some incredible voices, the filmmaker put together a fast paced, must watch medley of cheer and technological wonder. Take a look at the awesomeness below… The great thing about this video is it does so much without ever coming across as busy. It gives most of the cool little tricks at least a few seconds to breath, allowing viewers to properly appreciate the coolness and to brace themselves for whatever is coming next.

Over the next few weeks, there will no doubt be dozens of other holiday medleys passed around the Internet. If some of them are roughly as good as this, we should all be in for plenty of smiles. A remake of the PC classic Karateka will have you trying to save the day as multiple character classes, each stronger than the next. Labyrinth Legends is exactly what it sounds like, offering lots of twisty dungeons to dive into with fun loot and puzzles to solve.

The newest gameplay trailer for Company of Heroes 2 showcases the online multiplayer for the World War 2 RTS game. Players will be able to re-enact Eastern Front battles with several friends. CoH2 supports 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 online matches. Developer Relic Entertainment also promises more features, maps and modes than ever. Details were slim on those subjects, though. The trailer's just a collection of random battle scenes. Relic created a new version of their proprietary Essence engine. The Essence 3.0 engine introduces destructible environments and dynamic weather among other improvements. You can find out more about the game's technology by watching the recent developer diary. If you're interested in playing the beta, you can find sign-up details here. Relic previously stated that the beta would begin in early 2013. The beautiful Knytt Underground will make its way to the PS3 and Vita, providing a light Metroidvania adventure in a dark and mysterious world. Finally, mobile game Burn the Rope will be made available on the Vita, alongside new mini, Hotel Mogul. Check out the above link to the PS Blog for more details on these games and additional information about this week's PlayStation Network update, which will go live Tuesday afternoon.
