For me it would have to be between Sachin and Adam Gilchrist. As a young boy growing up in the 00's I idolised both their batting ability, Sachin for his sheer class and Gilly for his destructiveness, and they are also both true ambassadors of the game.

I am with you. I would say my cricket icons are Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar. I have seen Sachin playing from many years. It was Sachin who broke the record of Saeed Anward by hitting double century. I have never seen a player like Sachin. IMO Sachin is a player who deserve the designation of SIR.
