Default England on the board

England's top-order batting was under pressure to produce runs and Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen and captain Paul Collingwood answered the call with a 137-run third-wicket stand to set up the side's first win over New Zealand in their one-day series, on Friday at Eden Park in Auckland.

New Zealand scored 9-234 earlier thanks largely to Jacob Oram's innings of 88 during a record-breaking 74-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Rain early in England's innings saw the target reduced to 229 off 47 overs for a six-wicket win.

However, even before the rain England managed to start with its seemingly inevitable run out. Phil Mustard set out like a one-man wrecking machine as he blasted a six off Kyle Mills bowling and set about Chris Martin as well.
