English cricket officials intend to go ahead with a tour of the West Indies next winter despite growing pressure for a break to accommodate the Indian Premier League.

England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Giles Clarke believes the fear of "burnout" should deter top English one-day players from joining their global peers in accepting lucrative offers to play in the new competition.

The IPL will attempt to persuade the International Cricket Council to introduce a window in the calendar for their venture, which looks increasingly likely to be staged in March and April next year.

But with England scheduled to tour the West Indies next year, Clarke is in no mood to compromise.

"I don't believe England players will be involved next year," he told The Guardian.

"Several have already complained about burnout caused by too much cricket. Our players are contracted and we are committed to touring the West Indies at that time."

Should be a Tour I expect England to win, West Indies are in a little bit of form after playing pretty well against SA but I don't think they can trouble England if we play to our potentinal.
