Default India favourites against Pakistan

One of the most intense rivalries in cricket will be renewed this week when India and Pakistan square off in a five-match one-day series.

India have home advantage but there is not too much to choose between the two sides as they look for bragging rights in the region.

Click here to bet on India v Pakistan at bet365 Bet365 make India 8/15 (1.53) to win the series, while Pakistan, one of the most talented sides around on their day, are 11/8 (2.37) to triumph.

India may be favourites on paper but recent history is definitely not in their favour.

Pakistan have won an incredible 15 of the past 20 one-day internationals in India, and eight of the past 10.

Experience is a great thing, though, and while India have dropped Rahul Dravid - shocking most people, including former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, they shade it on that score.

Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly are still playing very well and their spin attack, plus the likes of Zaheer Khan have plenty of talent.

Pakistan will benefit from the return of Shoaib Akhtar, who will add raw pace and that bit of experience to the side while in Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan, they have real ability in their batting line-up.

Tendulkar, naturally is the favourite to be India's top runscorer in the series at 2/1.

Tendulkar averages 48 in his past 20 games, but strangely only 21 against Pakistan at home.

Ganguly is next at 7/2, with the brilliant Yuvraj Singh 5/1.

Virender Sehwag is 11/2, while Robin Uthappa is 6/1 and Gautam Gambhir is 13/2.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Yousuf is 11/5 favourite, not surprising as he is one of the world's very best batsmen these days.

Younis Khan is 11/4, Shoaib Malik a 6/1 chance and Imran Nazir 13/2 and Salman Butt 15/2.

This promises to be a topsy-turvy series and though India have the home advantage it could be nip and tuck.

With two sides that are such fierce rivals, it's always hard to know which way things will go, so the best advice at this stage is to sit back and enjoy.
