The West Indies team for the Champions Trophy are undoubtedly a weak side. The clash of the senior players with the West Indies Cricket Board has resulted in the board announcing a second-string team for this tournament.
Most of the players have no experience of having played international cricket. If they can put up even some semblance of a good fight against the strong teams, it would be quite a miracle. It is unfortunate that the team that had won the title in 2004, beating England in the final, are no longer strong contenders. Though negotiations are still on to ensure that some senior players are included in the team for the Champions Trophy, it is doubtful if it would be possible during the course of the tournament.
