Former Australian Test wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist hopes Chris Gayle's inspiring century in Adelaide will spark a revival in West Indies cricket.
Gayle earned the wrath of cricket traditionalists earlier this year when he claimed he wouldn't be sad if Test cricket died and Twenty20 took over as the premier form of the game.
But Gilchrist, who averaged 47.6 in a glittering career spanning 96 Test matches, believed it was a throwaway comment from the Windies skipper and said Gayle's actions spoke louder than words.
