Two Sri Lanka cricket players are still being treated in a hospital nearly two weeks after their team was attacked by gunmen in Pakistan, a doctor said Monday.

Thilan Samaraweera and Ajantha Mendis still need medical attention, said Dr. Geethanjana Mendis, head of the Sri Lankan sports ministry's medical unit.

"They are getting better, but need attention."

Both could be discharged within two or three days, he said.

Samaraweera suffered the most serious injury among the seven Sri Lankan players and one coach who were wounded when their bus was ambushed by gunmen as the team traveled to a test match against Pakistan at Lahore. Six police officers and the driver of a van taking match officials to the match were killed in the attack.
