So finally Chris Dehring, the World Cup 2007 director, has confirmed what the rest of us had already worked out – the presence of 100,000 cricket fans, apart from the usual peak-season crowds that throng the Caribbean in summer, means that hotel rooms will be harder to find than Harry Potter’s golden snitch. “We don’t expect to satisfy the entire demand. It is really going to be a challenge.” Mr Dehring, you are the master of the understatement.
