Angry fans set to greet Pak players
Fearing violence from irate fans, Pakistan's cricket team may get additional security cover when they return from Australia.
Fears that some unpleasant incident might take place after the team lands in Karachi were heightened when the National Assembly standing committee on sports Chairman Jamshed Dasti asked the government to provide adequate security to the players.

According to a report in 'Dawn', Dasti said the players are likely to face angry mobs on their return and asked for foolproof security for them. Pakistan were blanked in the Test and ODI series before losing the only Twenty20 match by two runs last night.

"I believe security should be the top priority of the federal and provincial security departments," Dasti said.

But Pakistan Cricket Board's Chief Operating Officer Wasim Bari said there were no such fears.

"Yes we have asked relevant departments to provide security for the team when it returns home but that is more because of the prevailing security situation in Karachi.

"I don't think there is any danger to the payers from irate fans, obviously everyone is disappointed at the performance but that does not mean we have requested special security to protect players," he said.

Protesters have burnt effigies of captain Muhammad Yousuf, coach Intikhab Alam and some other players over the dismal show in Australia.
