Australia lift ICC U19 WC title
Australia won the ICC U19 World Cup for a record third time when they beat Pakistan by 25 runs in Lincoln, New Zealand.
Pakistan, who had remained unbeaten in the tournament leading to the final, won the showpiece event in 2004 and 2006 but were clearly outplayed by the boys from Down Under on Saturday.

Skipper Azeem Ghumman put Australia in to bat and would have been overjoyed after his side reduced the opponents to 82 for five inside 22 overs.

Fayyaz Butt had inflicted two telling blows on the Aussies, snapping up opener Nic Maddinson for a duck before packing off skipper Mitchell Marsh for seven.

Alex Keath dug in with a patient 25 but fell to Raza Hassan as Pakistan took a firm grip of the final.
However, wicketkeeper Tom Triffit had other ideas and struck a vital partnership with Tim Armstrong, 21 of which were scored by the former.

Armstrong was involved in another crucial partnership with a Kane Richardson, who blazed away to a run-a-ball 44.

Australia had posted 207 for nine by the end of 50 overs and it looked far from being enough against a confident Pakistani unit.

The sub-continental team looked to be coasting along at one stage, at 110 for four before a dramatic collapse left the Pakistanis tottering at 168 for nine.

Ghumman was the top scorer for Pakistan with a gutsy 41 but the 90 balls that he took to score them added unnecessary pressure on his boys.

Ahmed Shehzad struck a well paced 36 but failed to carry on the good work as Australia rode on a second successive four wicket haul by Man of the Match Josh Hazlewood.

The victory sparked wild celebrations with the Aussie players hugging family and friends at the boundary ropes.
