Talented teenaged batsman Chris Douglas has broken his left thumb during a warm-up match in South Africa ahead of the World Cup qualifiers and will be replaced by all-rounder Jacobi Robinson, the Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) has announced.

Douglas, 19, a left-hand batsman who is also bowls useful off-breaks, will fly home at the end of the week. Robinson was due to leave for South Africa yesterday.

Douglas, the youngest member of the Bermuda squad, has been released from a private hospital in Pretoria, where he underwent surgery for the injury that has ended his hopes of playing in the World Cup qualifiers.
