Victoria has won the toss and sent South Australia in to bat on what is expected to be a lively first-day wicket at the Junction Oval on Monday.

The Bushrangers, equal leaders of the Pura Cup competition, will hope the Melbourne district cricket venue pitch and overcast conditions combine to assist bowlers.

Captain Cameron White had no hesitation in opting to bowl first when the coin landed in his favour, despite the absence of injured paceman Dirk Nannes who has suffered from a stress reaction in his foot, forcing him to miss three weeks play.

Recent rain in the area has provided a damp track, but the heavy roller has been used this morning in some good news for the batsmen.
