USA v Canada set for Memorial Day weekend

The 165th Anniversary of what is billed as the oldest international sporting event in the world - cricket between USA and Canada - is to be celebrated during the 2009 Memorial Day weekend (May 23-25).

This is when the event has been scheduled in the past, and the tradition is to be maintained this year as well.

By a happy coincidence, the 2009 Memorial Day weekend is also when the West Zone semi-finals of the US National Championships are scheduled to take place in the San Francisco Area - the East Zone sem-finals are scheduled for the same time in Orlando, Florida.

To add to the festivities, the Junior (Under-17} National tournament was already planned for this weekend, and preparations for holding that event are well under way.

The one obstacle is the USA Cricket Association, which has been known in the past for its failure to handle the logistics of such events.
