Aggressive top-order batsman Jesse Ryder has recovered from a serious hand injury and been recalled to New Zealand's squad for their tour of Bangladesh.

Ryder burst on to the scene this year against England before injuring his hand in a nightclub incident, requiring surgery that stopped him touring England in May.

He returned to action during an emerging players tournament in Australia in July and was named on Friday for the three one-day international and two-test series in October.

"We welcome Jesse Ryder back to the ...squad for both forms of the game," selector Dion Nash said in a statement.

"Jesse performed well on the Emerging Players tour in Australia in July."

Looking at it, it's probably the best series for Ryder to debut in. With the tough sub-continent conditions, added to the fact that Bangladesh are beginning to find their feet in international cricket, it should be a good experience for Jesse.

He could be groomed into a devastating batsman for New Zealand.
