Cricket South Africa’s General Council on Friday accepted a recommendation from its Franchise Review Committee to keep the same franchises for another season to give the committee more time to investigate the system.

The committee’s chairperson, Prof Kader Asmal, tabled an interim report to CSA’s General Council which contained the recommendation for a postponement of the full report until August.

The committee’s findings and recommendations to General Council will now apply to the 2009-2010 season and onwards.

The committee was appointed to review the franchise system for domestic professional cricket after four years of operation and to make findings and recommendations to the General Council.

The committee comprises Prof Kader Asmal (Chairperson), Mr John Smith, Dr Mtutuzeli Nyoka, and Mr Andrew Hudson.
