Indians are anxiously waiting for the World Cup 2011. Of course it is among the host countries. And the finals will be held here. The crowd of Kolkata has already started praying the match should be held in the Eden Gardens. Really cricket crazy folks!

Rajas, Eden will get the final match only if a pro-CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) lobby is in power at the BCCI. Right now, Eden Gardens is venue non grata (!) for the BCCI. And that is a real shame, because it is the best venue in India.

Yeah, every team that tours India wants a match the Eden Gardens. It would be absurd to not stage the World Cup final there.

It’s strange that people see Eden Gardens as some kind of personal property of Jagmohan Dalmiya. Now that he seems almost certain to lose his post in the CAB, why would there be a problem assigning important matches to Eden? After all, the last international match was played here way back in March 2005, I think, when Pakistan were visiting. Even a club ground is used more!
