The Kolkata Tigers won by two runs against Mumbai Champs in a thrilling encounter in the Edelweiss 20s Challenge at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula on Wednesday.

Andre Adams was declared Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

The Tigers opened the innings with Subhomoy Das and Lance Klusener. Das got stuck into Van der Wath in his first over smashing the ball to the ropes twice.

Tino Best got the first break through with an express delivery beating Klusener all ends up in the fourth over.

An impressive partnership between Rohan Gavaskar and Abhishek Jhunjunwala helped Kolkata Tigers reach 146-5 at the end of their 20 overs.

Though Mumbai Champs lost opener Jayanta in the first over, S Paul along with Raviraj Patil looked totake the momentum away from the Tigers with some aggressive batting. Patil fell for a fine 52 in the 10th over

The Champs were well placed at on e point needing 45 runs off the last five overs with seven wickets in hand. Buta rash short from Nathan Astle trigerred a collapse and the Tigers forced their way into the match.

The Champs, needing nine runs off the last over from Nantie Hayward eventually fell short of the target by two runs.
