Increase in matches from next IPL season will cause problems.

Lalit Modi has said that the ipl will not stretch beyond six to seven weeks.

With two new teams coming into the fray, the tournament will increase its games from 60 in this edition to 94 in the next edition, but the number of days will only increase from 45 to 51.

This, essentially would mean that more days will have more than one game, and there were will be days with three matches as well.

The question here is, will the additional matches mean that there is additional interest in the crowds in the long term, and in essence will it translate into bigger revenues for the IPL? One does not think so. Because, despite the fact that Modi may try and spread the game to other parts of the country and get house-full stadiums, the moolah rings from the TV audiences.

And with so many games, there is bound to be a huge spectator fatigue that will almost ensure that the games do not get watched too much, which in turn will decrease the TRPs. Everything that Modi has touched so far has turned into gold, but this one needs to be treaded more carefully.
