India won the toss and elected to bat first in the fourth and final test against Australia starting at Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
Australia made two changes to the side that lost the third test in Perth while India made one.
Australia opener Matthew Hayden returned to the side at the expense of Chris Rogers after missing the last test with a hamstring injury while spinner Brad Hogg was recalled for fast bowler Shaun Tait.
India also recalled spinner Harbhajan Singh at the expense of out of form opener Wasim Jaffer, giving the tourists five bowlers.
