Not everything is going smoothly with the DLF Indian Premier League, most notably with the scheduling. There have been some reports circulating that India's Home Ministry withheld security clearance for the event despite organizers submitting a revised playing schedule. The IPL, which has had to respond to questions regarding its security following the events of the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan national cricket team, tried to reschedule their events to coincide with nationwide parliamentary elections which take place April 16 to May 13 in five phases. The league is set to kick off their second season of action on April 10.

The Home Ministry told IPL officials it "may not be feasible to play matches as per the submitted schedule" due to a shortage of central security forces, which will be busy safeguarding the country's general elections at the same time.

"IPL organizers have been advised to accommodate the concerns of various state governments and draw up a revised schedule and submit the same to the ministry," Home secretary Madhukar Gupta said in a statement.
