True. Ever since he began playing Tests in 1992-93, Alf Langer has had to fight to hold his spot against the more free-flowing players.

And all the time, he has gone on improving his strike-rate. Right now, it is higher than those of Michael Slater, Mark Waugh and Michael Hussey.

Unfortunately, adjectives like gritty and tenacious have just clung to him, so he always seems some kind of journeyman, rather than the class act that he is. Can you imagine that he has played just eight one-day matches?

Coming back after being so severely concussed by Makhaya Ntini in his 100th Test in April, Justin proved his fitness during his stint with Somerset (that career-best 342).

yeah went down and watched him a few times he was superb!!! i dunno why hes played so few one dayers in one of the 20 20 games he was hitting sixes at will almost!!!
