"Sonny Ramadhin, Clifford Roach... these are pioneers of not only Trinidad and Tobago cricket but West Indies cricket and they left a legacy for world cricket."

That was part of the opening statement by T&T Cricket Board president Deryck Murray as he addressed the audience during the fifth annual Sonny Ramadhin Distinguished Cricket Lecture, held at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Centre for Language Learning Auditorium, St Augustine Campus, Monday night.

Ramadhin was the first player of East Indian descent to represent the West Indies in a career that spanned 43 Tests, between 1950 and 1961, including the first-ever Tied Test against Australia in 1961.
