Mohsin Khan wants separate T20 team
Newly-appointed chief selector Mohsin Khan said he would ask the PCB to have a separate team for T20 cricket.
Mohsin said Twenty20 was already hurting Pakistan's Test and ODI prospects and having a specialise Twenty20 team -- different from the one for two other versions of the game -- was the only way out.
"Twenty20 cricket has already damaged our Test and one-day performances. I will be suggesting to the cricket board to have a separate Twenty20 team," he said at a press conference here today.
Mohsin, who replaced former spinner Iqbal Qasim as the new chief selector, said Pakistan had only a handful of players capable of playing in all formats of the game.
"I believe in having a separate Twenty20 team, because it has hurt our Test performances. Both forms require a completely different approach and mindset and need to be kept apart," he said.
Mohsin's first assignment in his new job will be to pick the Pakistan squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies where it will defend its title.
