Just read an interesting item a few days ago. There exists something called the ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Bill that seems really unfair to fans. Apparently, fans who disobey the rules can be fined as much as $75,000! Just think what cricket in the Caribbean would be like without the food, music, colour and incredible noise. The new bill apparently warns that fans who bring certain types of food and musical instruments into the stadium can be fined up to $40,000. Obviously, people in the Caribbean are furious about it, but it just makes me think what the average cricket fan has to go through here in India. Imagine, you can't even bring plastic water bottles or a newspaper into Eden Gardens, which is called the Lord's of the East!

What about the riots?

Tania, i think you are forgetting that the eden crowd has behaved really shamefully on many occasions. can you remember a single time when a crowd in the w. indies, no matter how rowdy, actually disrupted a match?

Ok you have a point anto_men, but from what I see on TV, cricket fans in India and Pakistan are treated more or less like animals. You can't take away the basic dignity of a person. I mean, crowds in Australia and South Africa have behaved pretty badly at times, even spitting on the players, for example, but that doesn't mean you put all of them in cages or something.
