USACA North West Region's Inter-league tournament began on April 4, 2009 in Davis, CA with a face-off between first-timers California Cricket Academy (CCA) and Sacramento Cricket Association (SCA). Pranay Suri took 3 for 49 in his 10 overs and CCA did well to bowl out SCA for 264 in 48.3 overs. But the young team lacked firepower to chase that total. Barring Sujesh, who made 55, no CCA batsman made any impact and the team caved for 160, some 104 runs shy of the target. Kirandeep Singh, who had earlier scored 56 as SCA's opener was also SCA's most successful bowler with a 4 wicket haul that included the prize wicket of Sujesh.

On April 5, SCA faced NCCA at Santa Clara. For what might be a first, the entire match was recorded on HD by Desi USA TV using 5 cameras. Amidst this recording history, SCA stumbled through NCCA's attack. NCCA batted first and plundered 342 runs in their allotted 50 overs. The entire top-order came through for NCCA with three batsmen - Carmo Rodriques, Krishna Prasad and Srini Salvar getting 50s. SCA needed a strong opening partnership from Kirandeep (captain) and Balbir Singh (vice capt.). Kiran fell with the score still on 3 and Jaiveer followed him soon after. Although Rajat Parashar (71) put a strong resistance first with Balbir (10) and then with Nirav (37), once these wickets fell, the tail quickly folded and SCA lost by a heavy margin of 159 runs.

In the third match between Bay Area Cricket Alliance and California Cricket League, BACA's Mohammad Majeed and Amjad Khan scored 84 and 82 respectively as their team posted 309 for 9. CCL had the game in control with the score at 100 for 2, but 4 wickets fell in the space of 26 runs and that left the team reeling as they collapsed for 213.

The 2008 champs, NWCL led by Vijay Beniwal will play on April 10th against CCL in Fremont. Two matches are scheduled for Saturday with the final scheduled for Sunday.

Speaking to DreamCricket.com, Regional Chairman Hemant Buch said, "We have more leagues now than ever before and everyone gets a chance to play high grade cricket by participating in this tournament. In addition, this inter-league tournament allows us to implement a very transparent selection process as every player aspiring to be on the regional team gets a fair chance to perform."
