It is for a long time that cricket lovers in Pakistan have been craving for some moments of rejoicing but unfortunately their hopes and aspirations are shattered by the violence that prevails. There is no doubt that the terrorist attack of March 3 on the Sri Lanka’s team created a shock wave in the whole cricket world, the sordid incident caused a big set-back to Pakistan cricket as well. A cursory glance over Pakistan’s international cricket will reveal that we had a long spell of inactivity even before this incident. While all other teams were playing against each other Pakistan was sitting tight. In the current era of tough competition, the teams that constantly play matches can only survive. For over a year the Pakistan team missed the Test matches at home due to political unrest, while it did not play Tests abroad on account of bad planning. The two-Test series against the visiting Sri Lanka team broke the impasse and almost opened the doors of international cricket in Pakistan. The tall scoring matches provided our players a wonderful opportunity to regain their lost form and fighting spirit. For how long our players will retain their prowess, time will only tell.
