A Superb innings of 126 off just 109 balls from Australia's captain Ricky Ponting helped his team take a 5-0 lead in the ODI Series against EnglandEngland won the toss and elected to bat 1st and despite losing their in form captain Andrew Strauss early on, the home side managed to post what seemed to be a very healthy total of 299 their 50 overs.
Eoin Morgan was the top scorer for England as he fired 58 from just 41 balls to give England the impetus that their innings badly needed.
Ponting then made a mockery of England's total as Australia still remain on course for a 7-0 whitewash.
Australia have struggled in One day cricket for much of this year, but their performances in this series will given them a real belief that they can be the best ODI side in the world once again.
Should Australia win the remaining 2 ODIS in this series then they will return to number 1 in the ODI rankings.
On this form Australia have every chance of upsetting the Betting Odds and defending their champions trophy title in South Africa later this month.
