Australia's skipper Ricky Pontinghas said that the format of the World rankings in ODI Cricket Ponting's concern is about dead rubbers becoming meaningless unless there is something to play for.

The Australian captain referred to his team's 6-1 series victory against England last month, Ponting said that after wrapping up the series 4-0 there was talk of squad rotation but he believes that every 50 over international should be a meaningful event.
Following that superb display against England Australia went to the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa and successfully defended their title.

Australia have won the last 3 World Cup Events and are widely regarded by many as the best ODI side of the past decade.
As well as changing the ranking system perhaps the officials also need to look into the amount of matches played in an ODI series as 7 seems to be too many.
Australia will play an ODI series in India which kicks off on Sunday.

It is hard to see India upsetting the Betting Oddsand winning that series.
