Siddons hopes England hit bum note
Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons hopes England's decision to rest captain Andrew Strauss "bites them on the bum".
Siddons is attempting to mastermind a first international victory for the Tigers against England and believes Strauss' decision to skip the current tour could work against the tourists.
The one-day international series gets under way in Dhaka on Sunday, with England likely to field an opening pair of stand-in skipper Alastair Cook - making his competitive one-day comeback after a spell as a Test specialist - and the uncapped Craig Kieswetter.
And Siddons sees that as their potential undoing.
Asked about Strauss' absence, the Australian said: "People have their own choices to make, and organisations have their choices to make about whether they come here or not.
"My thoughts are that I hope it bites them on the bum at the end of the series, that the opener they've brought in isn't good enough, and that they fail at that part of the game."
Bangladesh have now recorded victories over each of the Test playing nations except England, whose record is 8-0 in ODIs and 4-0 in Test matches, but Siddons insists Cook's side will need to be on peak form to extend that record.
"At start of this year we knew we had to play the better teams in the world and I think we've fared pretty well," he added.
"Apart from two games in New Zealand we fared really well over there in grassy conditions, although they didn't seam a lot.
"In the tri-nations against India and Sri Lanka we were very good and probably beaten by the dew a couple of times.
"In our conditions we play really well, we're a developing team and growing in confidence.
"England need to be at their best to beat us and they've left a couple of key players behind so I'm thinking that could be the difference, but we'll have to wait and see."
