South Africacruised to a 5 wicket victory of New Zealand to keep alive their hopes of triumphing in the Champions Trophy at home.
South Africa won the toss and elected to field 1st and although Ross Taylor made a splendid 72 for New Zealand, the Kiwis struggled to get to grips with conditions and were bowled out for a below par total of 214.
A well composed innings of 70 from 79 balls by South Africa's star batsman A B De Villiers ensured that South Africa had no trouble in gaining a 5 wickets victory. This victory was a much needed one for South Africa, they lost their opening game to Sri Lanka and a defeat to New Zealand would almost certainly have seen them knocked out of the tournament.
Graeme Smith's men are currently ranked number 1 in the world in One Day cricket and they would love nothing more than to win this title in front of their home crowd.
New Zealand will need to improve dramatically if they are to upset the Betting Oddsand qualify for the Semi Finals.
