South Africa gained a slender 1st innings lead when they bowled England out for 273 on the start of day 3 of the 3rd Test Match at Cape TownSouth Africa had scored 291 in their 1st innings and given the helpful nature of the pitch for pace bowlers that was though to be a good total at Cape Town.

Veteran Jacques Kallis was the main stay of South Africa's innings he made a sublime 108 it was his 2nd hundred of the series.

England on the other hand had half centuries from opener Alastair Cook and Wicket Keeper Matt Prior but they were unable to kick on and take control of the contest.

The tourists held on to draw the 1st match of the series by one wicket when Graham Onions and Paul Collingwood held on.
However England bounced back and won the 2nd Match at Durban by an innings and 98 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
