I was just reading about New Zealand’s lack of Test cricket, but they are not playing too many ODIs either, if you look at it. They are not going to play any international cricket till October, when they play in the Champions Trophy in India!
Right, Runout! Here’s Vettori in the Waikato Times (huh?): “I’m fortunate there’s no international cricket till October and I’m confident of being back for the Champions Trophy.”
Problem is, Runout, the time may be too ample for some of his teammates. Of course, some of them are playing county games, like McCallum and Astle, but Fleming, I think, is preparing to be a daddy! Sweet, but inadequate preparation for Champions Trophy, methinks.
“New Zealand open their Champions Trophy campaign against South Africa on October 16 in Mumbai in a difficult group which also includes Pakistan.” Enough said.
They are a good team but how do they expect to rise in the ranks if they dont play. They could reach worlds number 1 if they started playing like they used to.
