Are you asking about Test teams, or one day teams?

Which Australian team? There have been three incredibly dominant Australian teams since (about) 1986.

And what about Clive Lloyd's West Indian team?!

South Africa: To the best of my knowledge they've never been top of the ODI & Test rankings concurrently (anybody/everybody: please correct me if I'm mistaken)

With Pakistan, they've had some brilliant - & I do mean BRILLIANT - players, but they've never really dominated world cricket, at both Test & ODI games, at the same time.

Sri Lanka have had some very good (& a couple of great) players, but they've never been a dominant force.

And while New Zealand have been outstanding, albeit inconsistent, in the one day arena, they've never excelled for an extended period in the Test arena.

1) Australia (4 times world champs!!!)
2) West Indies (cause forst 2 world cups, Black Storm we call them - hope they come back in real form for consitence)
3) Pakistan (Patriotism asks this... but c'mon its not that wrong is it)
4) India (Gr8 talent despite rivals)
5) Sri Lanka

South Africa & New Zealand & England just don't come in top 5 i think despite having gr8 teams & gr8 individuals cause;

.) Never won World Cup
.) Should u put a side a world champ team & put in their a non world champ, is this real logical? AFTERAll World Cup winning is some win

I agree with you rankings here, apart from the fact that I believe England should be at number 5 instead of Sri Lanka.

Test cricket is far more important than ODIs. In that case, England should be before SL.

I respect England team & i think along South Africa they have been one of the most unlucky teams to never claim world cup after being so strong in theor times

I think the english give more priority to the Ashe & so were succesfull their 2 years ago, i just putted Sri Lanka cause they were world champs in 96 & dominated cricket then for some time

if u see test wise, then it will be

Australia [surely no1 in all all departments]
India[not sure ???]
England
West indies?[not sure ???]
??? Pakistan [really not sure]

the 5 teams above [except Australia] are not ranked as they seem

actually i realy don't know the Test History????

any way TKS FOR AGREEING WITH ME

In that sense during the early 90s, England dominated more than what SL had done during mid 90s. I respect your thoughts bro, but really England should be ahead of SL even in ODIs since early 90s they were the more dominating force. Pakistan were underdogs during the 92' WC and the favourites were clearly England.

If you go by Tests... West Indies have dominated like no other, followed closely by Australia. Pakistan and England would come next, in my books, followed closely by India.

hmn.. i searched too

Paskitan comes in top 3 test teams as far as winning avg is concerned

about SRI or ENG i leave it on you, i have just one point & that is a team with world champion title on paper gets more cricket, i didn't rated the teams on test BTW cause that won't even count the WORLD CUP

This is not a fight b/w me & you,
Thank You

Of course it's not a fight mate :), it's all cool. Anyways, I see where you're coming from and I respect it kinda' is making sense to me now. Oh well each to his own. :D
"If you go by Tests..."

Really, if you go by tests, Australia have dominated like no other. Not even Clive LLoyd's W'Indies managed to achieve what the Aussies have achieved over the last few years.
Australia have won more consecutive tests, gone for longer without a defeat, & had the worlds most best opening partnership (Langer & Hayden were more sucessful than Greenidge & Haynes).

... & that's just for starters.
