India's women's cricket team will take on Australia for third place in the Women's world Cup. The Indians who were finalists in the 2005 edition in South Africa were unable to make it to the final this year after losing to New Zealand in a super six match. Their entry into the final depended on the performances of the other sides and unfortunately it did not add up the way Jhulan Goswami and her girls would have wanted.

They had started the tournament on a high note by thrashing Pakistan by 10 wickets. The Pakistanis were bundled out for 57 and openers Anagha Deshpande and Anjum Chopra completed formalities in just 10 overs without asking for help from the others.
