The Sheffield Shield is back - and as far as Victorian cricket is concerned, back where it belongs. Back where it started, in fact.

Cameron White yesterday became the first captain in a decade to take possession of it, the previous nine interstate cricket champions -- including the Bushrangers five years ago - having been presented with an unloved trophy named after a brand of milk.

The Pura Cup era wasn't one of Cricket Australia's most popular or sensitive moves, but the competition does lose millions every year and so money talked, as usual.
