It is very difficult to asses just where Englandare with regard to One Day cricket Andrew Strauss's men were hammered 6-1 in last month's ODI series in England against Australia prompting many to one again raise questions at the lack of talent in the limited overs form of the game in England.
To their credit England responded in fine style, they went into the ICC Champions Trophy as massive under dogs, yet they managed to beat tournament favourites Sri Lanka and South Africa in the group stages and as a result they qualified for the Semi Finals.
Ironically England would face Australia in the Semi Finals, however order was restored as Australia crushed their arch rivals by 9 wickets.

While many will bemoan England's performance in the Semi Finals, it is perhaps fairer to say that they were outclassed by the better team and that given how poor they had looked just a month ago, reaching the Semi Finals of a world tournament was a great effort.
If England play above themselves then they may be able to upset the Odds and win the 2011 World Cup.
