Zimbabwe were facing defeat on the penultimate day of their four-day match against the Pakistan Cricket Board Patron's XI in Karachi yesterday.
Needing 270 to make the hosts bat again, Zimbabwe were wobbling at 111/6 at stumps - a deficit of 159 with just four wickets in hand in their second innings.
Fast bowlers Samiullah Khan and Sohail Khan left the Zimbabweans staring an innings defeat. In the first innings, Zimbabwe were all out for 209 and while the hosts made 479-6 declared with left-arm spinner Raymond Price the pick of the Zimbabwe bowlers with 4-130. Yesterday, stand-in captain Hamilton Masakadza (44) and Tatenda Taibu (30) helped Zimbabwe move from 36/2 to 99/3 with a fighting 63-run stand for the third wicket in an otherwise unimpressive batting display.
